Known as Women’s Dive Day, today we’re celebrating women in diving. If you know Thalassa a little bit, you know we also sponsor a school, where we train local kids as dive guides or hotel staff. For Women’s Dive Day 2018 we invited all of our dive students’ mothers to try out diving in our pool in Thalassa Manado. Calling it “diving” might be a bit of stretch, though…

And you know, we’re really proud of these women; so there’s no “dramatic” shots of angelic free divers with their long hair flowing in the current while making heart shapes with their hands for their Instagram followers — we’ve seen that a million times already. Here is simply a group of awesome mothers doing something they have never done before, all under supervision of our PADI Instructors, Dive Masters and our Course Director. Way to go girls.

I'm a PADI Advanced Open Water diver, I do guest relations and resort management at Thalassa Dive Resorts Indonesia. Whether I'm diving the walls of Bunaken to spot schools of fish & turtles, or explore the sandy flats of Lembeh with its fascinating underwater creatures- I love all of it.
