Choose a PADI IDC in Indonesia for 2020

Instructor candidates in the pool doing exercises

We are starting 2020 with a bang: FIVE PADI IDC’s will be held during the new year at Thalassa Manado. Starting your diving career through an Instructor or Divemaster course with Thalassa is (in our biased opinion) the best value, and much more than just financially.

Why a PADI IDC in Indonesia?

PADI IDC in Indonesia”, these four words alone are enough for divers to daydream. If tropical weather, being around friendly people and logging spectacular dives tick all your boxes in search for an IDC, then keep reading.

Particularly, North Sulawesi and the Bunaken National Marine Park in the Coral Triangle, make a great “classroom” for IDCs. This is because you’ll be diving among stunning corals, turtles and schools of fish, an ideal environment for any diving course.

Combine your PADI IDC with a course in North Sulawesi, Indonesia

Five IDCs for 2020

For the new year, we are planning to do five IDCs at Thalassa Manado, so mark following dates in your calendar:

  • March 2nd
  • May 4th
  • August 10th
  • October 5th
  • November 23rd

Your Course Director will be Simone Gerritsen (more about her later), who will be assisted by Satoka, our resident Instructor.

The courses

There are a variety of courses that can be taught during the IDCs, such as:

  • Divemaster
  • Instructor Development
  • Emergency First Response Instructor
  • Open Water Instructor & Emergency First Response Instructor
  • Master Scuba Diver Trainer
Congratulations! You're a PADI Instructor now!

IDC Packages

For a more complete deal, I can recommend our IDC Packages. This way, you get to mix it up with our team, gain essential experience and make new friends along the way. For instance, our Divemaster Internship is a full 50 nights’ stay. A fantastic opportunity to completely change your diving life.

Previous Divemaster and Instructor interns who went this route told me they were very happy they chose this option. And whenever they had questions or faced a diving decision afterward, Simone was only an email away for advice.

Diving is fun, and now they can teach others
It is fun, and now they can teach others the same.

Under experienced guidance

So, about Simone. She is the PADI Course Director overseeing the proceedings. Hailing from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, she has been living in Indonesia since 1993. She logged her first dive in 1978, became Europe’s first female Course Director in 1993 and certified countless divers, Divemasters and instructors since then.

Each and every candidate I have spoken to seems to agree: her teaching methods really “stick”. This is in part because Simone expects you to have a fundamental understanding of the material.

A PADI IDC Course in Indonesia taught one of the best

So let’s be honest, the IDCs will not be a walk in the park. It will be a difficult course. But that’s the whole point: a high quality course is supposed to be difficult.

Otherwise everyone could do it, right?

Pass on what you’ve learned

At the end of the day, the point of our professional program is to make you the kind of Divemaster or instructor you want to be. The goal is that you’re secure in the knowledge that what you learned, you can teach properly.

What’s better than making divers out of people? Great divers! That’s what we aim to teach you.

Curious about the programs?
