Dear Thalassa friends,
Who could ever have thought that the Coronavirus situation would unfold the way it has. And that it would last this<\/em> long?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With you not able to travel to us, the year 2020 forced us to find alternative sources of income. We try selling pizzas to Manadonese via delivery or at our resort, and offering diving<\/a> at the Bunaken National Park<\/a> to locals or expats. However, this proves to be extremely difficult in this crisis – the income is barely enough to pay any working staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also have to maintain our lovely resorts<\/a> with limited resources, always hoping that things will return to normal soon. How wrong have we been last year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re not out of this yet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To be very honest, we expect the situation to be ongoing<\/a> at least until the end of summer. Maybe even the end of the year. As I write this, I see our life’s work crumbling down and any income generated now is simply not enough to keep the doors open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are still trying to help the students of our school<\/a>, our team is still getting together every week to do what they can. However, I don’t see how we can stay afloat unless I ask for your help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I hate<\/em> asking for help. It’s not in my nature – I much prefer to help others<\/a>. But this is the reality we’re facing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So what is our goal?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Understandably, running two resorts without guests is expensive, so the target amount of this crowdfunding campaign<\/a> is to cover the bare minimum of monthly expenses to bridge the gap between now and the end of 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expenses include the following essentials:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Night security at resorts<\/li>
  • Basic salary core team<\/li>
  • Utilities\/electricity<\/li>
  • Cost of working visas and licences<\/li>
  • Marketing & essential software expenses<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
